Step-by-Step Instructions
Skull Head Panels (Rows 1–32)
With 3.25mm hook and White yarn, ch 11. Sc in 2nd ch and each ch across (10 sts). Ch 1, turn.
Rows 2–5 (Jaw): Sc across 10 sts. Ch 1, turn.
Row 6 (Cheekbone Jump): Ch 4, sc in 3 ch, sc across 10 jaw sts, ch 4, sc in 3 ch (16 sts).
Rows 7–12: Inc at each end until panel reaches 24 sts across widest temple width.
Rows 13–24: Work even across 24 sts.
Rows 25–32: Work smooth decreases at edges: dec, sc across, dec down to 12 sts at the rounded crown. Fasten off. Repeat for Back Panel.
Concentric Floral Eye Sockets (Make 2)
With Black yarn, work 6 sc in magic ring. On final st, change to Teal. Sl st to join.
Round 2: In Teal, ch 1, 2 sc in each st around (12 sc). Change to Magenta. Sl st to join.
Round 3 (Petals): *[Sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc] in next st, sl st in next st*, repeat around to form 6 scalloped flower petals.
Insert 12mm black safety eye through the center of the magic ring. Make 2 matching eyes.
Facial Embroidery: Heart Nose & Stitched Teeth
Position floral eye sockets on Rows 14 to 19 of the front skull panel and secure eye backings firmly.
With black embroidery floss, stitch an upside-down heart between and just below the eye sockets for the nasal cavity.
Across Rows 2 to 4 of the jaw, stitch a horizontal black mouth line with 6 vertical cross hatch stitches for skeleton teeth.
Add decorative pink and teal French knots or teardrop stitches on forehead and chin.
Marigold Roses Flower Crown & Leaves
Roses (Make 3): In Marigold/Orange, ch 26. Work 2 dc in 3rd ch from hook and 3 dc in each ch across. Roll into a spiral rose and stitch base shut with yarn needle.
Leaves (Make 4): In Emerald Green, ch 7, sl st in 2nd ch, sc 1, hdc 1, dc 1, hdc 1, [sc, ch 2, sc] in last ch, work down opposite side. Fasten off.
Sew the 3 roses across the top crown of the front skull panel with leaves nestled between.
Perimeter Seaming & Polyfill Stuffing
Align front and back skull panels with wrong sides facing together.
Join White yarn at the bottom jaw corner. Single crochet through both panels around the outer rim.
Work 3 sc into the sharp cheekbone corner turns.
When 75% around, pack polyfill stuffing firmly into the jaw, cheeks, and crown.
Single crochet remaining edge closed, slip stitch to first sc, fasten off, and weave in all yarn tails.
